Faculty members Dr. Karin Cadwell and Dr. Kajsa Brimdyr travelled to Cairo, Egypt, in July to attend a series of conferences, including:
- A preconference workshop at the Egyptian Pediatric Association
- The 12th Annual International Conference of Pediatrics at Al-Azhar University
- The second International Conference of the Egyptian Lactation Consultant Association
The events provided Karin and Kajsa valuable opportunities to gain insights into the challenges their global colleagues face as well as the successes of various projects.
During the events, both faculty members also presented on their latest research. In her session, Karin drew from her latest paper on intrapartum administration of synthetic oxytocin published in the Annals of Nursing Research and Practice. Kajsa presented about the new wording of the fourth step in the Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative’s Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding. They also lead a skill-building session on latch.
